Hand made cel animation studio creating commercials, TV series, film, short & long form animation. Our animation studios make cartoons in 2D, 2.5D, & 3D in Tampa, New York, & Tokyo. We create motion.
Humouring the Fates believes in animation’s awesome power to create brands. Whether it’s a feature length film, a TV series, a commercial campaign, a web-based clip, or just a little pre-visualization… we help our clients develop the strongest, character driven material for their communications.
We love to push the boundaries of 2D, 2.5D, or 3D animation and we look forward to doing it for you.
Founded in 1995, Humouring the Fates is a full service animation studio specializing in hand drawn animation. With a dedicated crew of directors, animators and writers, HTF has made it a mission to invent unique animation techniques and bold creative visions.

We learned that ice skating is really hard to animate during this project for NBC Universal. Especially the techniques required to launch the world’s greatest figure skater, Evgenia Medvedeva, to the moon and back in this extra special animation project we got to do for the NBC Winter Olympic packaging. This one has a fun mix of our 2d & 2.5D animation studio techniques, along with some hand painted texturing on all the 3D animated studio work. We also got to do all the music in house. Little bit of a John Tesh meets Korean cinema vibe.
Well on this one… we had a damn good time. This is just a fun show from every angle. To work on and watch. We’re super proud to have been a part of YouTube’s first ever animated show. We got to do the big-budget, high-octane sections of this series when the animation switches from a puppet style and into full-bore, ass-kicking mode. We’ll have more updates when the episodes drop. Stay tuned!
Did you hear about the Halo Anime?
Wouldja’ like to watch a little of an animated episode we made here at Humoring the Fates with the supa’ wicked awesome cast from Rooster Teeth? This is the very first installment of Microsoft’s Game Studio’s upcoming animated Halo brand. Lots more to come for this exciting new animated branch of the most successful video game franchise to date. We were glad to be a part of this from the very beginning.
Once again we’re premiering a film at San Deigo Comic Con. Our film, PostHuman, is set in an adrenalized future of espionage, assassins, and out of control super-science, PostHuman follows a genius hacker and his dog as they help an enigmatic young woman free the remaining test subject of a black ops ESP test lab. Fully animated in-house here at Fates.
UPDATE: What a ride ya’ll. SDCC was epic. We will have to update on the events. Thanks to the droves of fans that came out to the screening. Hope our panel wasn’t too late night. Watch the full teaser below:
Kotaku just broke the first look at Gearbox’s new Battleborn cinematic we were fortunate to work on with a ton of talented people. We’ll have a bunch of updates on this project as more is released to the public… including some really neat deleted scenes that won’t be found in the game!!! Stay tuned.
In the meantime here are some fun gifs to hold ya over. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Get your geek on. Fates got to be involved with the 2015 Middle East Film & Comic Con, with our Director Jesse Norton giving a keynote at the Business Development conference at the Dubai World Trade Center. When it came time to advertise the 2016 event our new friends Ben, Arafaat, and all the crew at ExtraCake wanted the Fates animation team to craft something that captured the spirit of the Con. We went with a fun, simplistic style to match the design of the new MEFCC mascot (we’ve been calling him “Tubey”) and capture the vibrancy of Dubai and it’s vast makeup of cultures and people. This animated commercial is a great example of how quickly we can rush a production of a 2d, 2.5D, & 3d animation promo these days. We did everything for this one in-house including the music.
It’s going to be a super fun year with guests Nick Frost, Stan Lee, Christopher Lloyd, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Summer Glau, and a ton of others. See you there!
We jumped at the chance to work with super producer Alex da Kid. You’ve heard his work with Dr. Dre, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, Rihanna, and more. When our great friends at FROST, Beth and Curtis suggested we collaborate on the production it made the project even more perfect. We love working with them, and have great interplay of creative visions.
Alex’s new media agency KKCreate is launching soon with more videos! Here was a director’s edit of our hand created watercolor animation:
We get to do a lot of video game development work for our major gaming clients. We’ve done some fantastic stuff with Ubisoft over the years, and there’s a big fat project we’ve got dropping for a new AAA title next year. More on that stuff later. Let us talk up our indie cred for a minute.
Fates animation studios were lucky to be approached by Kuchnier Games (while we were on tour in Dubai no less) to come in and help with a number of design and development tasks for the project. Since we love jets, this was a labour of love baby. We also got to produce the entire soundtrack too, which will soon be available for download. Watch the site for updates!
We’ve been very busy the past couple quarters working on series development for several of our network clients. We’d like to give a special thanks to our two biggest network clients AMC and itv Studios. We wish we could show all of the fun pre-ivs work we’ve done this year, but we’ll just have to wait until the shows air.
We’re also proud to announce our involvement in the pre-visualization, pre-production, and actual production of the new itv series, The Trouble with Katie Rogers. Created by our good mate Des Taylor, the series follows the adventures of sassy, stylish NYC publicist Katie Rogers as she navigates the complex waters of media publicity and a complicated love life. It’s never a dull moment as she deals with celebrity clients, fashion divas and the men in her life!
If you’re at NYCC this year stop by the Madefire booth @ 1658 to meet us, Des, and get a copy of the complete graphic novel, soon to be an animated series!
